The Certificate IV in Dance is a one-year intensive program focused on performing arts and musical theatre technique at an elite level.
This nationally recognised course was designed as a stepping stone for students who wish to refine their skill set, across an array of genres and extend their musical theatre performance skills. ACPA provides students with the confidence to reach their potential and exceed all expectations.
Training 6 hours a day in our state of the art facility, only five minutes from Adelaide’s CBD. Students are trained under the guidance of our world class teaching faculty, lecturers and mentors who will nurture your development to becoming a professional in this industry.
At ACPA we recognise the strengths and weaknesses of each individual and understand that talent is developed in various stages. It is for this reason that we combine formal training and assessment with yoga, pilates and fitness programs.
This course requires a high level of commitment, participation and time management as it is the link to the world of professional performance. The workload is intensive and challenging and the rewards are endless.

Over the course of 12 months students will cover a variety of different topics such as:
- Dance technique and training in the following genres
- Musical Theatre
- Vocal technique
- Pilates and conditioning
- Acting technique
- Audition and performance techniques
- Nutrition and fitness
- Stage craft
Each area of study allows for the student to build resilience and the knowledge required to help set them up for their future career in the performing arts. All subject areas combine a variety of practical performance components and theory/knowledge components.
Assessments are conducted by practical in class observations, rehearsals/performances, mock auditions, written assignments, multimedia, in class activities and knowledge questions.

Pre-Requisites & Entry Requirements
Acceptance into this course is via audition only.
Our full-time Certificate IV in Dance program has a minimum age requirement of 16 years.
All applicants must show evidence of previous dance training in a minimum of two genres and potential in singing and acting.
Due to the physical nature of the course a certain level of physical fitness is required.
Applicants may audition for the Certificate IV in dance via a private audition or online video submission.
Private auditions include:
- Two solos performed at a minimum of 1 minute
- Delivery of pre-prepared
- 1 minute monologue
- A solo song with backing track
- Participation in an interview with the panel.
Private auditions are to be arranged through contacting the Australian Company of Performing Arts.
To audition via online submission, applicants must include:
- 3 x 1 minute solos showcasing the following genres
- Genre of your choice
- 1 minute monologue
- Solo song with a backing track
- A 1 to 2 minute recording communicating why you want to complete this course, your career goals and details on relevant experience and interests.
The Certificate IV in Dance is offered at $9220
Payment plan options available.
Costs are $2055 instalment per term, broken into two payments.
$1000 non-refundable deposit is required upon acceptance to the course.
Australian Company of Performing Arts have scholarships on offer for full-time students undergoing a Certificate IV in dance.
Please note applicants applying for scholarships will be required to attend a second audition.
