Our Contemporary Dance Class focusses on the strength and control of the dancers legwork, utilising the technique taught in ballet and engaging the core. The Contemporary Dance Class also includes contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance.
Contemporary dance is a popular form of dance which developed during the middle twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominating performance genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. Originally, contemporary dance borrowed from classical, modern and jazz styles, but has since incorporated many other styles of dance. However it is often closely related to ballet.
ACPA's contemporary dance classes are held at our Thebarton Studio (37 Walsh Street, Thebarton).
